Cancer concern desperatly trying to find peace of mind…?

14 Mar

I have recently become very worried about my health and specifically cancer. This has led me to visit the ER 4x’s in the past month, urgent care facility once, primary care dr 3x’s. These visits have been for various symptoms mostly intestinal since I began having huge stomach/bowel issues a few weeks after this anxiety started.

I have been palpated, had several CBCs and a thyroid test, two abdominal ultra sounds, an abdominal/chest xray, and most recently an abdominal ct scan.

All of my diagnosis have been IBS and constipation.

I am still very concerned I have cancer an just discovered a small (smaller than a pea) lump along my jaw line under my ear lobe. I am convinced it is a lymph node and another sign of cancer. It is soft, moves freely, and after touching it 100s of times is sensitive. It has also gotten a little bigger (still smaller than a pea) since I discovered it 2 days ago.

I am looking for some reasurance that this is just my anxiety and that all of these tests significantly reduce the likelihood I have any type of cancer (lymphoma, colon, pancratic, stomach, etc).

I am pretty sure there is no need to worry, you are just spooked. I think the tiny lump has nothing to do with cancer, and since you have been to the doctor and had nothing discovered, I think you can relax. But if you are very worried still, just go and have the lump checked out. It can’t hurt, and you will feel better after doing everything to make sure it isn’t cancer.

    Best of luck!

focus on controlling your anxiety or it just may cause further problems. Even doctors have trouble diagnosing themselves, so allow yourself to be human. I knew someone w/ IBS and it’s a pretty horrible thing sometimes. Do not worry yourself sick.

You’re more than likely fine physically, however mentally, you have problems. I hope you have really good insurance or lots of money to pay for all these visits and procedures. If they go unpaid, you’ll be refused treatment at a time you may really need it and your insurance, if you have any, will refuse to pay for needless procedures and visits.

Not saying you have cancer but my husband has tested positive for hereditary diffuse gastric cancer..7 out of 8 people tested, tested positive. So three have already had there stomachs removed and my husband is next, next summer. There is no testing that would determine whether or not you have this because its in the lining of your stomach therefore they remove it, cut it up and then do tests. But right now there is no cure for it thats why our family is doing tons for stomach cancer research..check out our website if interested..BeStrongHearted.org..

    Hope everything turns out ok!!
