Prognosis for early stage secondary liver cancer?

03 Sep

My aunt has recently been diagnosed as having bowel cancer. They found a 2 inch tumor in the large intestine. A CT scan has since shown the cancer has just begun to spread to the liver. The liver has some spots on one side of it. The dr’s are going to treat it with chemotherapy. Does anyone know prognosis statistics for this type of cancer?

I was just wondering how long the life expectancy of liver cancer at the fourth stage was?

27 Aug

My dad was just diagnosed with liver and colon cancer, he just got an operation and removed the colon cancer and he has liver cancer at the fourth stage. He is going through chemotherapy right now and i was wondering what his life expectancy was going to be and what is the worst possible thing that could happen with the chemo, we are figuring he will be on it for roughly 4 months and then a major surgery and then chemo again for another 6months to make sure everything is gone… if all goes well.

How does skin cancer start out looking like?

27 Aug

Lately I have had little bumps not huge but like almost skin scab looking things (not scabs though). And I am in the sun doing activities a lot and I was wondering if it almost seems like it can or be a possibility of skin cancer? I’m not sure.

Does my cat have stomach cancer?

26 Aug

A while back my mom’s cat had two episodes of great illness. The cat is 17 years old and used to be quite fat – at least 15 pounds. Now she weighs about 9 pounds. These episodes involved her getting absolutely drained of energy, pooping pretty much wherever she was, sometimes peeing where ever as well, and her eyes got really dull. Also she would be really quiet. Usually she’s a somewhat chatty cat, at least when I come over she meows like she’s insane. Also some of her poop had white foamy stuff on it. She would barf a lot too and wouldn’t eat anything, but would drink water. These episodes lasted for 1-2 days each of those two times.

My mom has a friend who used to work in a vet’s office and saw a lot of cats and she herself had a cat that had stomach cancer and she said that it sounds like stomach cancer.

Thankfully the kitty hasn’t had any such episodes in quite a while, but she still doesn’t eat as much as she used to. She barely touches dry food and only eats wet food and salmon (yeah she’s spoiled rotten).

Anyway, does that sound like stomach cancer or something else?
“A cat that urinates/defecates where she lies, is lethargic, and vomits a lot is a sick kitty who needs help. Take her to the vet ASAP.”

To reiterate, THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED TWICE FOR A PERIOD OF 1 TO 2 DAYS AT A TIME. She is fine now. She is a happy cat now. The last episode of this was last fall. I remember because my mom’s driveway was sealcoated and it stank like all hell and I thought that maybe that was making the cat sick.

What is best investment fund that could pay dividends out for non profit group and pay for cancer treatment?

23 Aug

In other words, is there a type of investment vehicle that could be used to make money residually that a non profit group could make withdrawals from in order to help pay costs for cancer patients that have been historically denied coverage by their insurance companies, but have been medically recommended treatments by their healthcare team?

What are the symptoms of a person that is dying from Liver Cancer?

21 Aug

My husband and I just took the responsibility of caring for my sister that was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer. My sister is on morphine to control the pain, and the doctor tells us is a matter of weeks. My sister has no clue as to what is going on and is tearing me up inside.

She is 55 years old and was full of life until 9 months ago, I see her wasting away, with lots of pain, the tumor is inoperable. Therefore, I need to know what is going to happen, what changes am I going to see in her? I have been told that they could bleed through the mucus area… eyes, nose etc.

Has anyone gone through this experience?

Thank you

Nina

Can cancer be spread by diseased transplanted organs/bones to a person without cancer?

21 Aug

Can a person without cancer get cancer from a transplanted body part that has malignant cancer? In other words, lets say (person a) dies of malignant cancer that has spread to his liver. His liver is stolen and cause of death was changed to heart attack or something by some criminal. The liver is then transplanted to an otherwise healthy (person b) without cancer who for some reason needs a liver. Can the liver spread cancer to other parts of (person b)’s body?

Stomach Cancer that has spread to Liver. What can I do?

18 Aug

My Grandfather has just been diagnosed with Cancer of the stomach. They are going to do a scope and take a better look. They saw spots on his liver and think that the cancer may have spread to his liver but they are not completly sure until they get a closer look. He is 62 years old, he has been healthy his whole life. He works out and is not overweight, he has never even had any kind of operation done. What is our options? I have read things about vitamin b17 in ORGANIC only fruits like apricot seeds and apple seeds. Has anyone out there ever tried this or is anyone in the same boat that my family is in? Please leave any comments that would help us! We have never delt with anything like this before. Please tell us anything that you think that can help. Thank you!

On average how many people survive liver cancer?

15 Aug

I have been just diagnosed with a tumor on my liver and I am waiting for the results of the MRI test to find out if it may be cancer. I am curious to know what the average percentage of people with liver cancers survive with treatment? I have searched the internet myself but I’m upset and lack the patients to sift through all the medical mumbo jumbo. Plus I am a bit confused. If someone can shed some light for me it would be greatly appreciated.
I don’t have any information to go on.

Did your hair grow back after receiving a high dose radiation for cancer treatment?

15 Aug

I won’t lie, I am a little disappointed that I see a few hairs sprouting back after my radiation treatment. It seemed like one of the only positive aspects of receiving full abdominal and pelvic radiation, permanent hair loss. Seems mine is not permanent? Was yours?

does my rat have stomach cancer? dexamethasone and baytril?

10 Aug

Three nights ago we noticed that he would half shut his eyes and kind of go through tremors where his lungs would make a very congested sound for 2-3 seconds and then for 30 seconds we’d get our normal rattie back, and then he would slip back into his painful state. Plus he’s lost a lot of weight very fast.

I rushed him to the vet yesterday, where a very cut and dry and self-described “pessimist” doctor told me immediately, without looking or feeling his stomach (although he later did) that he has stomach cancer and a tumor in his belly. He told me I had two options 1) a two week program of heavy steroids (dexamethasone) and baytril, which would reduce the swelling of i guess his spleen? The doctor kind of lost me on that one, he was vague in these regards. And I guess from what I’ve read online about baytril, that is to calm his lungs down so he can breathe? And he told me it might keep working, but obviously it wont heal a tumor… this vet gave me the impression I should put him down right away. I was scared to death.

That being said, I chose to take him home and do the dex + baytril method. It’s working really well. I know this will not make the tumor go away. But I don’t want to believe there is a tumor there, and I guess when it comes to keeping him happy and here with us, I don’t want to put him down if there is a chance this vet might be wrong. When I feel his tummy, i don’t really feel anything. It’s protruding but not amazingly hard to the touch or anything. What are rat bellies supposed to feel like?

Has anyone gone through a similar problem with their rat? Whether it be stomach cancer, what it looks and feels like, or the dex + baytril method of making him feel better? I’ve been in tears all weekend, and I don’t want to put him through any more suffering, but at this point I am terrified to put him down tomorrow because I haven’t had any second opinions and I don’t want to see him go. If his stomach feels this way, is it really stomach cancer?

Any help is so so so welcomed…. thanks, guys.
