Ive just watched a program which showed the town of Wittenoon in Western Australia. The feature was about asbestos and the presenter when in the town wore white overalls and breathing apparatus before he entered. When I was 9 yrs old I was with my family returning from Broome to Perth we drove into the town to see an actual ghost town i the name of fun. We then went up into the hills where there was a walking track along a beautiful creek (Wittenoon Gorge) we walked up for maybe an hour. On the other side of this creek were big steep hills that were from half way up just black “dirt” that must have been a few hundred metres high and continued a few kilometres along this creek we were walking along. I actually asked my mum if I could climb up there to play in the black stuff. That black stuff was Blue Asbsetos.
After seeing this program and the risks of exposure I am a bit concerned. If the presenter went to the extent of wearing full cover overalls and a breathing apparatus just to enter the town how likely is it I would inhaled enough of these deadly fibres and what can I do?

Asbestos Exposure in School….?
Between Kindergarten and 2nd grade (I’m in my 1st yr of college now) I was in a school that had asbestos ceiling panels/insulation as well as those cancer-causing PCB fluorescent lights. Honestly, what are my odds of contracting something nasty like Mesothelioma? Granted, I know the asbestos was undisturbed, but still, what are the odds? And please tell me how certain you are of them.
Thank you.
BTW the school district was sued for its endangerment of youth back in the mid 90’s, and cleaned up its act since.

How can I prevent asbestos exposure?
I’m planning on visiting an old, rundown building with several friends. I’m concerned about asbestos exposure, as the risk of cancer and other lung issues are prevalent upon being exposed. I don’t intend on touching/burning/destroying anything in the building, so as to avoid releasing potential asbestos into the air. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to how I may protect myself? Is it possible to be exposed simply by walking through an old building?
I started work at maintenance in apartment and i was concerned of high dust exposure today. is it an asbestos?
my first day at work and my first work was to scrape old painting off using scrapers and it produced high amount of dust. I only scraped off the painting and probably negligibly other dusts. and sweeping also made even more dust. what are my chances of being exposed to asbestos in the basement indoor parking lot?

Asbestos exposure from cutting holes into walls, for wall plates?
I am a computer technician, and sometimes am hired to install networks in locations that don’t have existing network jacks, both at homes and business locations. Of course, this involves cutting holes in walls.
It just crossed my mind whether any of the walls that I cut into could contain asbestos.
I don’t want to risk exposure. So, I’m hoping you could tell me if there’s certain types of wall materials before certain dates that I shouldn’t cut into.
The wall types I could work on could be about anything, drywall, plaster, or anything else used as walls. Build dates of the buildings I could work on could be all over the map.
Of course, I cut between studs. I’m often cutting a hole right next to a stud. It looks like drywall tape sometimes contained asbestos. I’ve never put up drywall – could that tape go past the studs, to the area I’m cutting into?

Black Mold Exposure, don’t know who can help me.?
I have been exposed to black mold at my job.My crew and myself have been very sick. I am the only one with insurance so I asked my Dr. to check for it, she was very rude with her response saying I was imagining it,and it was doubtful I was sick from that!! I had the blood workdone and waited 3 weeks for the results and I had to go get a copy from her and take them to someone who can read them or tell me if I need some more tests! Please help soon so I can get some answers!!!! I am getting sicker as is more people on the job!!! I also have samples I need to have checked,I spoke with osha, niosh and my boss and the job superintendent and they said that they only tested for asbestos which is a total lie!!! I have witnesses that saw them collecting black mod samples, they will not give me any information concerning this problem and it is a public place as well!! This company is a billion dollar industry and I feel that they just buy off officials to shut them up! help

Asbestos exposure – worried?
Hi,
A few years ago I had my garage roof taken down by builders who rebuilding the garage. They were corrugated white asbestos sheets and they stacked them in my garden.
I rang the local council who said to put them in double bags and bring them to their waste tip where they would dispose of them. The next day without thinking too much about it, I started breaking the sheets up (outside in the garden) – having read much more about asbestos since, I realise this was an inappropriate thing to do.
As I didn’t have a face mask on, I am concerned about how much I may have been exposed to the asbestos. It took about three hours to bag the sheets – can anyone shed any light on the risk level?
Thanks,
NS
