Partially due to the neglegence of my employer, I accidentally walked into a building that was taped off for asbestos removal for approximately 1- 2 minutes. Should I have reason for concern or am I overreacting?

acquaintance?
Were there any type of compensation offered from a company or the government?
Lead, asbestos, pesticides, fuel, mine work, pipeline work, etc.
I asked this yesterday and received 4 excellent responses.

I was a stupid 18 year old kid and explored an abandoned building. There were signs warning that the place had asbestos. We went in anyway, for about an hour or two, without any protection. We didn’t disturb the air or anything, but we sure were breathing it. Is one exposure cause for concern?

Who can I contact if I suspect that my children may be exsposed to aasbestos and mold in their school building and the school district is shrugging it off? You can literally smell the mold when you walk into certain areas and classrooms because the roof is extremely old and damaged and it rains inside the building in certain places. The library is totally mold infested in the walls and carpet. You can see the brown water stains in the walls and the ceiling and in some areas the ceiling pieces are gone. What can I do?

I was at a party getting busted and hid in the attic for like an hour and a half. i think that i was just laying in dust, but im not sure! Does Asbestos look like dust? Do attics usually have inches of dust? It was a greyish color and was soft. Im not sure if what i was laying is was dust, or something put up there to insolate heat. How much makes you sick?

I worked for a construction firm in the summer breaks while in college from 1985-1989 and had exposure to asbestos dust. I am healthy today and have no issues. Should I be concerned anyway?

I live in an old apartment building, after almost a year of dusting of my washing machine every time I used it I figured old building kick up a lot of dust since the machines are in the shared basement. I looked up at the broken pipe covering & an old sticker stated 85 magnesium. It’s broken all over the basement causing a light white dust build up. I’m moving out as soon as my lease is up but what should I do till then?

I’m thinking about installing a ceiling fan, but our ceilings have popcorn on them. Does that type of disturbance release enough asbestos to be concerned about?

I was reading a leaflet on asbestos exposure and it said that most people who are exposed to asbestos do not become ill its usually those that have worked with asbestos for years and that being exposed to asbestos does not mean that you will develop an asbestos related disease, under that paragaph it said that children are especially prone to developing cancer after exposure to asbestos, do you think that means that ALL children that are exposed to asbestos will develop cancer or just more likely than adults

i recently asked about immediate symptoms of exposure to asbestos & the responses given lead me to ask this question. b/c i only recently became aware of floor tiles in my home that contain asbestos.
the tiles were located underneath some carpet that was recently pulled up b/c of a water flood on the floor. the tiles are sporadically broken into pieces.
water extraction took place on thursday & heaters were placed in the home. on friday (after level of asbestos was determined), fans were placed in the home to facilitate the drying process. the central heat & air conditioning was left on throughout the weekend.
floor was determined to be 100% dry on monday, & the fans were removed that day.
i experienced headaches & on tuesday, i vomitted.
i understand that my reactions (symptoms) may have been merely from dirt & dander circulating b/c the carpet was removed. just want to know if asbestos is removed (asbestos exposure was very minimal), is it possible for ANYTHING bad to result?

I recently helped move three air conditioners out of the basement of an old firestation now used as a warehouse. While I was working I noticed a white powder underfoot on the stairs leading down to the basement, sometimes an inch or two thick, and when I lifted the air conditioner a white powder that had settled on them got all over my hands, coat, and pants, smearing them a chalky white. However the dust didn’t feel airborn, nothing got on any part of me that didn’t directly touch an airconditioner, I had no trouble breathing, nor did I feel like I was inhaling anything. In total I was handling these air conditioners and in the basement/on the steps for only a few minutes, less than ten. Immediately afterward I brushed what I could off my clothing though they were still dusty, washed my hands and when I was able to get home about eight hours later I changed my clothing and took a shower. Could it have been asbestos and if so does my level of exposure pose any risk?
