Lung Cancer: Myths, Facts, Choices–and Hope

My dad was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer in Feb. 05. He had the left lung removed in March 05 and had four chemo treatments in the next four months. He has been doing pretty good until the last month. He has been having severe pain in his upper back and shoulders. Anyone know what can cause this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

65 yr old female, adenocarcinoma of lung with metastasis to brain and bone. chemotherapy every 3 weeks, has had 6 treatments, seemed to be working. doing poorly as result of chemo, lethargic, weak, reduced mental state. hospitalized 12 days ago for above concern, electrolytes terribly insufficient, sodium down. diagnosed as SIADH, performing blood and urine analysis daily, kidneys ok, lumbar puncture shows cryptoccocus. Still in hospital, 2 days ago xray showed “shadowing” around known cancer mass. Drs unsure if cacner growth or pneumonia. She is on antibiotic for cryptoccocal menengitis. Her breathing is VERY labored, and the drs called for another xray. It shows the “shadowing” has grown since 2 days ago, although no fever, dr has decided she will start antibiotic for pneumonia, although no fever spike. Legs are mottled today for the first time. repsirations are not consistant, have been 20 up to the 50’s (50’s did not last long). It doesn’t look good…HELP

my insides constantly hurt, like all in my lung area and ovaries and stomach and everywhere. i do have endometriosis but that wouldnt cause this.
i do smoke and have been for 3 years now but i dont know why my lungs would hurt this bad.
they ach and make me feel all broken inside.
do you think ths may be a sign of lung cancer?

I’m interested in communication with preferably female, 45-50 yrs of age who has undergone a right upper lobectomy for adenocarcinoma in the past year or longer if your memory is good. Trying to get a handle on the healing aspects and any advice on alleviating pain caused, I think, from the nerves healing.
I’m taking 200mg. of B6 a day and the Vicodin my surgeon prescribed does nothing for pain. The pain I feel is not at the incision site but on the lower part of ribs.
I’m a 47 yr. old female and had my surgery on May 18, 2006.
Any advice or encouraging words would be appreciated.
I am fortunate that my pain is not constant and my surgeon told me that I don’t have to suffer with pain. I’m just not sure I want to keep getting prescriptions filled and have them not work like the Vicodin.

I’m am 46 and recently diagnosed with lung cancer in my lft. lung.I have pain in my upprer left side of my back.Also most of my bones and joints hurt.Could this be connected to the cancer?Its not that far along but,it still hurts.exspecially when I breath.I’ve never had an injury to the left side of my back and its hurt for awhile now.I have penty of web sites on cancer . I would just like an answer concerning pain

My grandmother was diagnosed with the early stage of lung cancer and enphazema (shocker: she’s a smoker). She is due to have surgery to remove part of one of her lobes next week. My question is, I am planning my wedding (I live in California and she lives in Texas) and need to know if she can travel by airplane? I’m afraid that the recirculated air will be bad for her health. If traveling is going to be a problem for her, I will gladly have my wedding in Texas. Any ideas?

I Pleural mesothelioma and after a lot of test the only place i have any cancer in my right lung and the doctors think my best chance is to have it removed
