Why do people hate marijuana so much?

22 May

Marijuana is the only medication that doesn’t have harmful side effects. Why all the hate?

First of all, Marijuana is the ONLY NON-addictive drug. Secondly, Marijuana can HELP chemotherapy side-effects without causing any addictions or other disorders. Thirdly, try telling this to a cancer patient, and see what they have to say about it. What if your child had to go through chemotherapy, and all of the hell that comes along with it!! Would you let a doctor prescribe some addictive, harmful with hundreds of different chemicals that react to a human body in an unkown fashion, OR ease some of the pain and ache from their body by giving them a small brownie that would do no harm.

Most Marijuana supporters don’t smoke weed and just have simple common sense. You’ve never smoked it, so you dont know that it doesnt do anything but make you feel good and calm you down. what does alcohol and prescription pills do?

They are HIGHLY ADDICTIVE. They do serious damage to your liver, kidneys, stomach, nerves etc., THEY ARE THE REAL KILLERS!! But yet, they’re legal.

I think some of these haters need a jay, to see the light… What do you think??

Put 200 drunk people in a room= blood and guts everywhere
Put 200 high people in a room= peace,laughs,munchies,music

My aunt had breast cancer, and went through chemotherapy. It killed me to see her suffer like that. She started smoking marijuana and suddenly she was able to eat and keep food down. She wasn’t depressed anymore. She doesn’t have breast cancer anymore. She’s been using marijuana ever since.

Why all the hate??

Are You Anti Or Pro Marijuana Legalization?

16 May

I am Pro-Marijuana. I Believe that alot of the information that has been sent out to the community is very twisted. For one, Most argue that 90% of major drug addicts started with marijuana. But i’d like to debate that 99% of drug addicts coud’ve gone to church before doing drugs. Does that mean that going to church leads to drug abuse? There is no hard evidence to show this as fact. Secondly, they like to tell you that there are 400 chemicals in marijuana. We eat plants. Every plant has a range of chemicals, some 400 some 700. Who knows. Theres 700 chemicals added to the tobacco put into todays cigarettes and they’re legal. For some reason, most anti-marijuana info brochures say, “when a user begins to feel that he or she needs to take the drug to feel well, that person is said to be dependent or addicted to the drug” When you get sick, you need medicine to feel well. When you’re hungry and your stomach hurts you need food to feel better. So we’re all addicted to food and medicine? Since they know pot isnt addictive they feel the need to twist the definition of addiction.

Now I would like to address the pros of Marijuana Legalization. Although Pot has it’s problems, it’s benefits for outweigh it’s consequences.

-If Pot were legal, many people would switch from alcohol to Pot. I think that a lot of Alcohol abuse come from the fact that it is the only legal drug and therefore is overused. Alcohol is highly addictive, physically and psychologically destructive, and is a severe drag on society. I think that if Pot were legal that many people would switch to Pot and be much better off. I think one side effect of legalizing Pot would be a major reduction in the abuse of Alcohol and that the number of traffic deaths would drop dramatically.

-Another reason is to save the huge cost in tax dollars wasted in prohibiting Pot and enforcing drug laws that have no benefit to society. If Pot were legal you immediately eliminate the illegal Pot market and get rid of crime associated with Pot money. You could also release from jail all those convicted from Pot related offenses and cut the costs of having to build new prisons to incarcerate normal people. Because of mandatory drug sentencing laws, many states have to release violent offenders to make room for Pot smokers.

-Pot has many other uses. Before the lumber industry lobbied Congress to make Pot illegal, Marijuana (known as Hemp) was the primary source of fiber for the production of paper. The United States Constitution is printed on Pot. With today’s technologies this fiber can be processed into construction materials that would replace wood products saving our forests and lowering the costs of construction while producing byproducts useful in making fuels to run cars and generate electricity. Hemp is a very hearty plant and would be a good cash crop for our nation’s farmers.

-Many more jobs would open up as a result of marijuana lagalization. The people who produce/grow the hemp trees. Those who package. Those who distribute. Those who transport. And not to mention the illegal dealers would be thrown off the streets and less laced marijuana would be sold to unsuspecting pot smokers.

-Marijuana is a medicinal herb. Not a drug. THC is the drug. Marijuana has been shown to help insomniacs with sleep. Ease stomach pains/nausea of cancer patients in chemotherapy. Helps headaches.

The last of my arguements is the topic of the effect marijuana has on the brain. While marijuana does slightly mess with short term memory, the effects are not long term and do heal over time. there are no long term/permanent effects to the brain while there is still a chance of lung cancer and heart problems. But these risk are shown more in cigarette smokers. Marijuana also opens up parts of the brain that aren’t usually active while you are sober. it reallocates mental resources allowing you to become more imaginative and to come up with new solutions to problems.

I would like to hear you opinions and questions.

Please people be aware of contaminated marijuana buds?

24 Mar

This is not strictly speaking a question but a warning, there is a lot of contaminated bud out there at the moment being shipped from the Netherlands. They are spraying it with an etchant glass frosting aerosol to make it appear as if it is more resinous and to add weight, there are tiny microscopic glass beads,silicone and chemicals in it which cause sore throats, headache, cough and cuts in the mouth in the short term but could cause silicosis(fatal) and asbestosis in the long term, there have also been reports of people coughing up blood.This is extremely wide spread in particular in the UK but has been found in Dutch coffee shops and the deep dark woods in Finland. Please spread the word to anyone you know who smokes it as the government has only just issued a health warning even though its been around as long as early 2006 and even then it was a brief mention on the welsh news. The best way to test is to wet your finger and press it into the bud to test for grit or sand.
Has now been found in the USA as well. Please don’t attempt to put a filter in either as it is still poisonous.Think how many chemicals get through cigs.

Is it ok for a Stomach Cancer Patient smoke marijuana to relieve Chemo side affects???

04 Mar

He has had surgery already and had spleen, lymph nodes, and pancreas removed including his whole stomach. They now told us that he might need some light radiation. I’ve read a lot of articles on Chemo patients smoking, drinking(in tea) to relieve the side affects of treatment. Our concern is that since he is already eating so little from having his whole stomach removed that he won’t eat at all or too little once he starts undergoing chemo.

It will likely be a few weeks til he is ready for treatment since he is still recovering from surgery. My question is since he would be smoking it is it safe for him to do that. Would the smoke somehow be bad or dangerous for him??? I heard they offer it in pill form. Is this available everywhere and as effective as smoking it? These are not questions I would want to ask his doctor since it is illegal to purchase marijuana. Maybe it is. Who knows, but any and all of your help is appreciated.
The patient is my father and we live in Chicago.

Marijuana – Illegal for the wrong reasons?

01 Mar

Looking to see if anyone has an opinion on the matter. Take a quick look at the following observations and conclusions, thanks.

Ever wonder why marijuana is illegal? Some yes, some no, but let me assure you it isn’t why the government says it is.

Addiction rates:
Nicotine – 35%
Cocaine – 19%
Marijuana – 9%

Death rates:
Tobacco – 435,000 /yr
Alcohol – 85,000 /yr
All illicit drugs – 17,000/yr
Marijuana – 0, in all of history
* center for disease control

Effects:
*Tobacco
Yellow teeth/nails/skin, emphysema, lung cancer, etc.
*Marijuana
Obvious acute effects, bronchitis (long term) — notice I did NOT list cancer.

** A california study observing heavy marijuana users over the course of 8 years found that marijuana smokers were no more prone to cancer than non-smokers.

Nicotine withdraw symptoms:
-Physical
* Tingling in the hands and feet
* Sweating
* Intestinal disorders (cramps, nausea)
* Headache
* Cold symptoms as the lungs begin to clear (sore throats, coughing, and other signs of colds and respiratory problem)
-Mental/emotional
* Feelings of being an infant: temper tantrums, intense needs, feelings of dependency, a state of near paralysis.
* Insomnia
* Mental confusion
* Vagueness
* Irritability
* Anxiety
* Depression is common in the short and long term. In the short term it may mimic the feelings of grief felt when a loved one is lost. As foolish as it sounds, a smoker should plan on a period of actual mourning in order to get through the early withdrawal depression.

Marijuana withdraw symptoms:
*** Scientists disagree whether there is significant withdrawal symptoms or not. A 1997 report by the Institute of Medicine stated that average users, due to the long half-life of marijuana, experience little or no withdrawal symptoms. However, they can include any/all of the following:
irritability
anxiety
physical tension
decreases in appetite and mood
stomach pain
physical tension
restlessness
anorexia
insomnia
increased aggression / anger
strange dreams

Other reasons why marijuana is still illegal:

** Police make ENORMOUS amounts of money from drug busts. If they can prove that the money was tied to criminal activity they are allowed to confiscate it. Legalization of marijuana would mean huge losses for:

Police
Courts (from fines)

** Tobacco lobbyists obviously oppose the legalization of marijuana. This would introduce competition into the market, or allow current tobacco smokers to quit and replace their habit with marijuana. Either way, the tobacco industry loses, meaning a big “hell no” from them.

** The drug industry would be absolutely crushed by the legalization of marijuana. Currently, the only way to obtain substances legally is by visiting a doctor (paying a fee), getting a FDA-approved prescription, and getting a couple more to counteract the side-effects of the first drug. Marijuana is used worldwide as an alternative medicine for many health issues.

** International treaties make it difficult for individual countries to change their laws. If they were to legalize marijuana, they would violate the treaty, and that would cost them certain benefits.

** Consumer items would see a drop in demand, as the necessity to have more and more entertainment would decline with the introduction of marijuana. With a reduction in demand, that would mean one of two things:
– Production would have to slow down, meaning less profits since less volume is moved through the stores.
– Reduction in sale price, as the supply will be the same (for a while) and the demand will decrease.
It may seem ridiculous, but trust me many consumer items would see a decrease in sales.

** Pacifism would overtake america, at least in the smoking body, and would make it much more difficult to engage in conflicts with other countries, on any scale. War is the single most lucrative engagement, and a loss of money would certainly be against the interests of those currently benefiting. Not only that, but it will become much more difficult to get the american people rallied behind government-driven bills and actions. Keeping the american people gun-ho and ignorant is key for them to get their desired results. Pacifism would help reduce the “gun-ho” aspect of their success formula, and the resulting tact in their approach to political issues would likely result in many becoming educated with the fine-details of the matter. Educated decisions will collapse government corruption, which is very lucrative itself.

** Right-wing conservatives, armed with bible-in-hand (though from personal experience I can assure you they do not read, or at least interpret without distortion), will down-right refuse the legalization of marijauna.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Final notes:
Now, for my personal opinion on the matter (drum roll … )….
Despite whatever the health effects may be, it is my belief that it is the constitutional right of o
It does not matter what it does or does not do to your body friends, it only matters what rights are unwillingly be taken away from you. It is your right to choose for yourself, is it not? Doctors have the right to recommend what you should do, but not legislate it. I’m not convincing you of safety, just trying to open your eyes to reality. Americans today give too much choice to the government, as if they are scared to choose for themselves. I pity you, I really do, and it breaks my heart.
I understand a huge drop in consumer demand is relative to it’s total consumer base, but they WILL see a large drop in business. When I started smoking I spent more time with the people I cared about instead of working to buy big televisions and expensive cars. It is the memories I have with other people that keep me going, televisions will eventually break down and need to be replaced.
Big tobacco will not start growing and selling. Why? Well obviously EVERYONE ELSE WOULD TOO.
