Our home was built in 1990 – does it still need to be tested for asbestos?

Am I better off to remove a popcorn textured ceiling or cover it with a new layer of drywall?
My tub leaked into the condo unit below mine (bathroom as well). Since I have to foot the bill, I have a couple of options. I could test the ceiling texture to see if it contains asbestos (condo unit was built in 1986 and the maintainence department said they don’t believe the popcorn contains asbestos, but nothing short of a lab test will be 100% sure). On the other hand, I could just have a new ceiling affixed right below the popcorned one and have the new one painted. Which would I be better going with at this point? These aren’t high-ceiling units, just an FYI.

How can I hide or make my Asbestos Popcorn Ceiling?
Since it has asbestos I do not want to remove it. Any painting ideas or possibly something else?
Can I put sheetrock over a popcorn ceiling?
My house was built in 1985 so I know that there is no asbestos in the ceiling, however I do not want to deal with the mess of removing the popcorn, especially since the sheetrock and tape underneath will most likely need repair afterwards. I want to install 1/4 inch sheetrock over the existing popcorn ceiling. Would this be an okay method to get rid of the popcorn and how can I ensure that the new sheetrock goes on level?
Is it safe to remove a popcorn ceiling yourself?
My home was built in the 1960’s. I have heard that it may not be safe to remove a popcorn ceiling because it may contain asbestos. Does this need to be done professionally?
respray popcorn ceiling?
We have a popocrn ceiling and in one room, it has some damage so we have to fix it. We will get an asbestos test since the house was built in 1963, but have heard that to have certified pros come in and remove it would cost over $3000 for just one room, Since we can’t afford this, I was wondering if it would be ok to have a contractor spray (non-asbestos) popcorn ceiling over it. This would encapsulate the fibers, wouldn’t it? Please only answer if you’re an expert-thanks!!!
what is the best way to remove a popcorn ceiling.?

Can a condo be FHA-approved yet contain a popcorn ceiling that has asbestos?
My condo was built in 1986 and all the units have popcorn ceilings (unless removed by their owner). I have to remove some of the ceiling for drywall work, but learned that popcorn ceilings used to have asbestos.
Fix/Remove Popcorn ceiling?
We have ugly popcorn ceilings in our house and I was trying to think of alternatives. I am unsure if they contain asbestos, but fairly certain they do so I don’t want to scrape them. Putting up new drywall is a little more work than we can do on our own. And the tin panels look nice but not practical for the whole house.
1. IF I DO scrape them, can we do it with minimal asbestos exposure, or just forget it?
2. Is there some other texture product I can spray up and then smooth out over the surface with a flat mop or something so it isn’t so lumpy? Will that expose us as well?
Thanks!
EDIT: I know all the procedures to remove the popcorn texture, don’t need that info. I need to know if there is any way to do it safely if it has asbestos or another option to just coat over it and smooth it out.
How do I encapsulate a flaky asbestos popcorn ceiling?
A contractor doing work on my home recently damaged a section of my popcorn ceiling. Now flakes of this popcorn stuff are hanging from the ceiling, and could possible come off in time. I don’t plan to repair the ceiling, and I don’t want to disturb the stuff. Is there an adhesive or something that I could spray on the ceiling to keep the stuff from flaking off further?
Disturbing spray on popcorn ceiling with asbestos?
I live in an apt built in the 70’s. There is a thin layer of the “popcorn” ceiling that is assumed to have asbestos content chrysotile. It appears to be intact and I’ve only noticed a few pieces on the floor ever since I’ve been here. How much do slamming doors in any way loosen the pieces and produce dangerous airborne particles? If the content is assumed to be 3%, how hazardous is getting several pieces loose from the ceiling? Does nailing something to the wall near the ceiling, producing large vibrations, loosen pieces to risk producing hazardous fibers?
