Hi,
We are hoping the install wood laminate in our family room (the house was built in 1979). When we pulled up the carpet, we found old tile and was told that it is most likely asbestos tile. The carpet tacks were nailed in pretty deep. Should we be concerned about pulling up the old carpet tacks?

Beneath the carpet pad is black tar substance(No asbestos found in sample) on the concrete floor. 95% of the floor is cover with it. How do I remove it?
Also, does the whole concrete surface need to be free of black glue before installing engineered wood using the glueing method? I have Bostic Best glue.

Carpet and padding was probably installed 20-30 years ago. Padding is deteriorated and stuck to floor. It crumbles and has to be scraped up. Could it contain asbestos and what danger is it to me? Someone else removed it while I was in the house with the ac on.Is it safe to just mop and wax floors or must I recarpet? I have allergies and don’t care for carpet.

The school is planning on starting the removal while students and teachers are in school and continuing over the summer.
